ounder of the Firm, he began working as a criminal defense lawyer in the Romagna region, in Forlì and Ravenna. From the outset, he was appointed counsel in relevant proceedings. The most famous being that regarding those who participated in the demonstrations against the Italian invasion of Libya, where, in 1911, Pietro Nenni was arrested – and defended by him – alongside Benito Mussolini (who was a socialist at the time) and Aurelio Lolli. Also, he complemented his professional life with political engagement assuming leading roles, first as city councilor and later as vice mayor of Forlì.
Volunteer of the Great War, he became aide-de-camp of gen. G. Giardino. Meanwhile, he did defense counsel work. It was a widely known fact that none of his defendants tried before military courts was ever sentenced to capital punishment.
He moved to Venice in 1918, continuing to embark upon countless criminal trials. He always refused to practice before the corti d’assise straordinarie. For having taken part to the organizations against the Fascist regime and for his effective work in protecting many persecuted people, after Italy’s Liberation, he was appointed by the C.L.N. deputy mayor of the Venice City Government and member of the Venice Bar Council. He was member of the Ateneo Veneto of Venice.

ounder of the Camera Penale Veneziana and promoter of P.R.I. after Italy’s Liberation, he committed himself both to criminal defense and politics.
He carried out the activity of “strenuous defender of the citizen’s rights” – as stated at a conference dedicated to him – assuming the role of defense counsel in the most important proceedings in the Veneto region, last among those before the corte d’assise that against members of the Red Brigades.
The Camera Penale Veneziana has honored his memory by entitling in his name the Biennial Course “Difesa Penale ed Esecuzione, una visione prospettica”.
