e graduated cum laude at the University of Bologna with a final dissertation in Criminal Law and Law of the European Union on the protection by means of Criminal Law of the financial interests of the EU, after having worked and carried out research on the topic at the European Anti-Fraud Office of the European Commission in Brussels.
During the course of his studies, winning the related university tenders, he completed with merit an academic year at King’s College London and, subsequently, he successfully spent three months of traineeship at the City of London office of a prestigious Italian law firm.
He did his bar traineeship in Milan at a leading firm in the legal services market, acquiring a specific expertise in Corporate Criminal Law. He passed the bar exam before the Court of Appeal of Milan, obtaining the first prize “Marco Ubertini” for scoring the highest grade.
He received his PhD in Criminal Law from the University of Ferrara by discussing a thesis on positive obligations in Criminal Law under the ECHR, following a study period abroad at the Institut für Strafrecht und Criminologie of the University of Vienna.
During his PhD, he took part in particular in the Transnational Organized Crime project during which he visited Queensland University in Brisbane and the Uni4Justice project as postgraduate researcher.
He is currently a postdoctoral researcher in History of Law with a project entitled “Origins and Development of the General Part of Criminal Law in Common Law Systems” and a teaching assistant and exam committee member in Criminal Law I and II, Occupational Health and Safety Criminal Law and Environmental Criminal Law at the University of Ferrara.
As postdoc, he was visiting academic at the Institute of European and Comparative Law of the University of Oxford.
